Comparative Effectiveness of Abatacept versus Adalimumab in Shared Epitope positive and negative Rheumatoid Arthritis patients.

Impact: this study, co-led with Darren Plant and funded by our industrial partner Bristol Myers Squibb, represents an important step in assessing the potential of genetic stratification for patients with rheumatoid arthritis. We confirm that genetic factors located within the HLA are associated with response to treatment, but we show that this association is not treatment-specific, and therefore cannot be used in a clinical setting to stratify patients into treatment response categories.
